The factory Subaru up-pipe uses a corrugated flex section to accommodate engine movement. This flex section degrades over time , it cracks, leaks exhaust gases, and creates a boost leak that reduces turbo efficiency and generates annoying rattling. Beyond the reliability issue, the flex section is a genuine flow restriction in the pre-turbo exhaust path. GrimmSpeed's 2-bolt stainless up-pipe eliminates both problems.

The 2-bolt design uses a rigid stainless connection rather than a flex section , the mount geometry accommodates engine movement without requiring a flexible section in the pipe.
